Case Study

Womens International Centre for Economic Development (WICED),

Sutcliffe were appointed to design a flagship initiative Women’s International Centre for Economic Development WICED. The vision of WICED was to create the conditions and infrastructure for Liverpool to become the key player for women’s enterprise and economic development.

The 2000sqm building in the heart of Liverpool City Centre contains a range of offices, training and conference facilities plus an incubation space for new businesses. The scheme is expected to help 3,000 women set up businesses, creating 4,500 jobs over the next 10 years.

The iconic building was built in line with BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standards and is naturally ventilated, with common heating and cooling via air source heat pumps. All the lighting is controlled via absence detection and daylight dimming to reduce energy consumption and carbon output.
