The Award Winning Gyhll Head Centre, on the shores of Lake Windermere, has been an operational facility offering disadvantaged city dwellers their first experience of the Lake District since the 1960’s. The centre offers water based activities but had been striving to meet the demands of wheelchair users, due to the steep access incline. Gyhll Head has had strong links with MCC education programme for many years.

A new build three storey boat house was designed to meet the access needs and provide a modern facility.

Sutcliffe was approached by GB Solutions who were engaged on two new build primary schools commissioned through the NWCH. They were ask to work on the project with all NWCH framework contractors and we provided our services free of charge as part of our ‘giving something back commitment’ to this worthwhile project. We thoroughly enjoyed our involvement and came in to contact with many inspiring people.
