Sutcliffe were approach by a professional sportsman to design a state of the art gymnasium in his private residence in Formby. Our Client desired a state of the art structure to reflect his image and blend in with the current design of their extensive property.

We worked closely with the Architect in the conceptual design stages of the project.  As the budget for the project was generous and this allowed a number of structural options to be presented to the Client, before they decided to opt for a regular grid of columns, irregular beam grids and large cantilevers. This achieved a slim floor with compound steel sections to give the illusion that the gym was floating in the air.

The 2450m2 sports facility was designed using BIM software and had ‘Green Considerations’ in mind. All the construction materials were highly recyclable and locally sourced.

The elegant building exceeded the Clients expectations and was completed on time and on budget.
