Sutcliffe delivered comprehensive civil and structural engineering solutions for a 60-bed facility, completed in February 2020.
Our team designed a three-storey load-bearing masonry structure with a reinforced concrete basement, incorporating a steel frame to support the load-bearing walls, precast floors, and timber trussed roof. The project posed significant challenges due to the high water table and difficult ground conditions, which required careful coordination of temporary sheet piling with the permanent basement design.

We tackled the drainage requirements by installing a deep foul water pumping station to enable gravity-fed connections to the sewer network. To meet planning conditions that restricted surface water discharge into sewers, we engineered a network of soakaways and employed SUDS techniques, including permeable paving, based on BRE 365 infiltration testing. These measures ensured effective drainage and highlighted our commitment to sustainable engineering solutions.
