£110,000 raised. Thank you, from all of us at Sutcliffe.

There are some evenings that stay with you. The Sutcliffe Spring Ball at the Titanic Hotel’s Rum Warehouse, on 24th April, was firmly one of them.

Together, we raised £110,000 for three Liverpool NHS charities, taking the total Sutcliffe and our friends have raised for the NHS to over £320,000. To my mind, that figure says something genuinely powerful about this city. Whilst the rest of the country debates the pressures on the health service, the Liverpool business community quietly gets on and does something about it. If every business stepped up like this, just imagine how much stronger and fairer our society could be.

I couldn’t be prouder of what we achieved together. We have created a gallery that you can download your images from the night here.

Where the money goes

Every penny will be shared between Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity and University Hospitals of Liverpool Charity.

At Clatterbridge, the funds will tackle health inequalities head on by addressing the practical and financial barriers that prevent patients completing their chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment. We’re talking about the small but critical things that, left unaddressed, mean treatment doesn’t get finished.

At Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity, donations will fuel the Baby Belly Research Campaign, advancing care for the understanding of neonatal health, improve diagnostic techniques, and ensure that future families benefit from innovative, evidence-based care.

And at University Hospitals of Liverpool, contributions will help launch the new Health and Hope Campaign, providing vital support for patients, families and staff at the Aintree Major Trauma Centre. The campaign was instigated by the major incidents this city has had to absorb in recent years, including the Liverpool Trophy parade and the Southport tragedy, which have made plain the need for further support. Whilst we hope nothing of the kind happens again, however, we know the Trust must be ready, and this campaign helps to make sure it is.

A moment to remember Sue Wright

One of the most poignant moments of the night honoured the memory of Sue Wright, whose experience at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre inspired a significant donation from Matt Morris of Home Bargains. Faisal Arif, Sue’s partner and CEO of The Harrogate Group, paid tribute to her kindness, her dedication and the lasting impact she made on those around her. It was a reminder, if any of us needed one, of why we do this.

Thank you to our sponsors

Events like this don’t just happen by chance. They are made possible by the support of our headline sponsor, Austin Wilkinson Demolition, whose belief in the cause set the tone for the whole evening.

We’re equally grateful to our supporting sponsors: Layer Surveys, Butterworth Spengler, Fox IT, Titanic Hotel Liverpool, Seddon Housing Partnerships, John McCall Architects, Authentic People, Metro Developments, Walker Engineering, and not forgetting our friends at Wongs Jewellers. To each of you, thank you.

Special thanks also must go to William Baldwin, Alexandra Thistlethwaite and Eva Johnson who, with the three fundraising teams, coordinated what was a magical event, produced by the incredible Pete Pinnington Productions.

Thank you to everyone who donated

To every guest who bid in the auction, bought raffle tickets, made a personal donation or quietly slipped something into a bucket on the way out, thank you. Whilst the headline figure is what gets the press, however, it’s the individual generosity behind it that actually moves the dial. We’re under no illusions about that.
