How Sutcliffe is breaking the bias in recognition of International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is an incredibly important day in society, not only for Sutcliffe but for the construction sector as a whole.

We want our industry to reflect the environments that we are working within.

With approximately just 14% of the construction sector made up of women in 2022, we need to continue to push female inclusion in the sector and that must begin in the early years of education.

From a commercial and a social perspective, having more strong women in the sector can only be a good thing.

Furthermore, at Sutcliffe we are playing our own small part in ‘breaking the bias’, not only by nurturing and empowering our female employees to climb the ladder but also by attending school, college and university talks and careers fairs, to directly speak to young women who are thinking of getting into the industry.

As a company, we have also recently reviewed and improved our family-friendly policy to ensure maternity and paternity leave is suitable for our employees, and as we continue to work towards gender equality, we will evolve and work to ensure Sutcliffe is continually seen as the workplace for everyone.
