It’s no exaggeration to say you can’t go far in Liverpool without seeing one of our projects, and that’s something we take great pride in. With 90% of our housing schemes benefiting people from disadvantaged backgrounds, we dedicate ourselves to making a real difference. A prime example is our Grove Street development, which will provide affordable housing for over 500 residents. But it’s not just about bricks and mortar – at Sutcliffe, we’re committed to creating lasting social impact by recruiting apprentices from similar backgrounds, ensuring opportunities for the next generation, and encouraging diversity of thought in our workforce.
We believe our work speaks for itself, and our presence across Liverpool is a reflection of our commitment to revitalising the urban landscape. From developing brownfield sites to contributing to community growth, our projects are designed to serve those who need it most.
This award highlights the deep connection we’ve built with our city, including our work on key projects like the hospitals across the Liverpool City Region. At Arrowe Park, for example, our A&E project serves 62,385 patients per year, supporting 320,000 people on the Wirral. Without the structures we’ve built, essential NHS services simply couldn’t function.
In addition to our core work, we’ve raised over £120,000 for the NHS in just over a year, including more than £65,000 for the Neonatal Unit at Liverpool Women’s Hospital and the Delirium and Dementia team at Liverpool University Hospitals. Our commitment to the Liverpool Women’s Hospital is personal – one of our structural engineers, Louise Collier, saw her son James receive life-saving care in the NICU ward she had previously helped design. Her personal connection and professional contribution made that project especially meaningful for us.
With 20,000 homes developed annually, Sutcliffe is recognised as a leading structural and civil engineering consultancy in housing and property. We’re also a distinctly strong voice in the industry, providing many industry insights and thought leadership pieces as well as advocating for the government to increase housing targets from 210,000 to 300,000 homes per year because we believe housing is a fundamental human right.
From the world’s largest brick building, Tobacco Warehouse, to new projects at Mossley Hill Mental Health Hospital and Arrowe Park, to our ongoing support of Liverpool’s beloved charities, Sutcliffe stands out as a consultancy unlike any other. And that’s why we’re proud to be one of the most highly commended in our city.
