Liverpool Women’s Hospital – Imaging Unit Extension

Sutcliffe provided Civil and Structural Design and Site Investigation services for the £3M Crown Street Improvement Project at Liverpool Women’s Hospital. This project focused on modernising and extending the ground floor to create a dedicated imaging and colposcopy department. Working in collaboration with Gilling Dod and Tilbury Douglas, Sutcliffe played a key role in integrating MRI and CT scanners, along with additional imaging equipment, to enhance the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities and support high-quality patient care.

Our work included the design of structural elements and the implementation of Site Investigations. We engineered the integration of MRI and CT scanners into the facility. Our responsibilities also covered environmental assessments, including Phase I desk study, Phase II intrusive site investigation, and Phase III remediation strategy to support the Planning Submission.

Key challenges included coordinating the integration of new imaging equipment with existing infrastructure and addressing site-specific environmental concerns. These were managed through effective collaboration with Gilling Dod and Tilbury Douglas to ensure timely project delivery.
