The project involved demolishing four outdated maisonette blocks from the 1960s to clear the site for the new development. Construction methods included driven concrete piles with ground beams, a block and beam ground floor, and a combination of traditional masonry and steel frame structures. To ensure cost-efficiency, Sutcliffe collaborated with Anwyl Construction’s estimating department to evaluate and select the most economical foundation solution. The building also incorporates sustainable features such as solar panels and rainwater harvesting. The external façade, featuring brick and blockwork, and the design of the courtyard with residents’ balconies reflect the scheme’s intent to integrate with the character of the existing urban environment.
