The facility was designed to comply with ATEX hazardous area requirements, necessitating careful planning to incorporate ATEX-rated zones into the layout. Key features of the design included a pressure-resistant booth for the hydrogenation process, optimised service corridors, and dedicated plant space, all intended to maximise production efficiency and accommodate future process upgrades.
The project presented several technical challenges. We developed solutions for varying floor types to meet the diverse needs of the facility’s functions. Structural solutions included the use of piled foundations with cantilevers to integrate the new facility with the existing building while maintaining stability. Flood risk mitigation was addressed through the integration of flood defence barriers into the ground floor design. Additionally, the facility was designed in accordance with FM Global standards, ensuring compliance with safety and risk management requirements.
The resulting facility offers a modern, flexible solution that enhances production capabilities and supports future growth.
