Sutcliffe was appointed by Torus to provide civil and structural engineering services, as well as geo-environmental works, ensuring the project was delivered safely and up to standard.
Our team supported the project from start to finish, carrying out desktop studies, site investigations, remediation, validation strategies, and validation testing to ensure the site was suitable for redevelopment. For the civil and structural elements, we designed ground beams, retaining wall foundations, reinforcement schedules, and temporary works. We also provided connection and fabrication drawings, secondary steel design, timber frame detailing, sewer diversions, and a topographical survey.
Additionally, we delivered a surface and foul water rising main and pump station, ensuring the development had the necessary infrastructure for long-term sustainability and flood risk protection.
This redevelopment has been welcomed by the community and local stakeholders, as it breathes new life into the area while providing much-needed high-quality housing in Newton-le-Willows.
