Project challenges

We overcame significant site constraints, including proximity to Network Rail and live services, by implementing a concrete podium up to the first floor and a transfer deck of reinforced concrete and timber. High-quality external cladding and glazing were chosen to enhance the building’s Grade A appearance as a prominent city gateway.

Our engineering team designed both the permanent and temporary works for the concrete podium, optimising the use of resources to save time and costs. Additionally, we provided expert advice on construction methods and frame options, drawing on our experience with sites having similar historical UXO concerns. This project showcased our ability to deliver efficient and high-quality solutions under challenging conditions.
