Park Lane SEND School
Our site investigation indicated that traditional pad & strip foundations would suffice, and exposure works within the existing building ascertained joist & roof spans so we could incorporate this into the structural design from an early stage. The CCTV drainage survey revealed an existing private network which ran through the proposed extension footprint, which required diverting and upgrading to suit additional flows.

A steel frame with precast floors and lightweight metal roof was the optimal method of construction for the extension to achieve the architect’s open plan configuration. Project challenges
Several unforeseen delays took place during the build process including a leaking water main in the ground, which caused issues with lift pit tanking installation. Collaborative working overcome the various problems on site and good relations were maintained. The final result is a very modern extension & refurbished building that provides additional teaching space for SEN pupils with specialist hoists to suit their needs.
