King’s Park is a residential development being delivered in partnership with Sovini Group, creating new build rental properties that will be 100% affordable. This project is due to be completed by January 2022. The site is located in Seaforth, Merseyside which previously housed two high-rise towers Montgomery House and Churchill House in the 1960s, which were demolished in 2017.
The land at King’s Park, Seaforth was originally identified as a brownfield site which refers to previously developed land that is no longer in use that may be potentially contaminated. This caused initial concern, however, a thorough geotechnical and environmental investigation was carried out by our team before any construction began to ensure this site was suitable to build on.
This process consisted of carrying out phase I, phase II, and phase III site investigations to ensure that all geotechnical and contamination issues were incorporated into the substructure design from the start.
Additionally, a detailed flood risk assessment was carried out to produce a sustainable design using surface water attenuation tanks that caters to climate change requirements. The detailed civil & structural design has been delivered on this programme in accordance with the main contractor’s requirements, with the aid of regular virtual meetings during the pandemic.
We have adapted our working practices quickly to remote working, whilst successfully maintaining our excellent service levels. We look forward to the completion of this project in January 2022!
