Sutcliffe were responsible for the reburbishment and construction of a new extension to the existing Emergency Department at Wythenshaw Hospital.
The scheme seeks to increase the capacity of the department to address the rising numbers of patients by providing more space whilst meeting cutting edge healthcare standards.
The extension comprises of a 1-3 storey steel frame, including a link bridge that connects the new build to the existing. Working in a live healthcare environment was a key consideration for this project, in both the new build and refurbished elements. This has led to several phases of enabling works and sectional completions being designed into the scheme, in regular consultation with the Trust.
As part of the team’s commitments to sustainability, the building has been designed with whole life cycle costs in mind.
