Sutcliffe has been shortlisted for two Inside Housing Development Awards for our development projects – Hyndelle Lodge and Ullswater Road – in partnership with Wigan Council, HLP Architects and Willmott Dixon Contractor.

The sites at Hyndelle Lodge in Hindley and Ullswater Road in Golborne are part of Wigan Council’s plan to create housing that meet people’s health needs so they live independently in their own homes. These developments consist of 64 affordable homes specifically designed to help vulnerable people live independently. Residents living with autism, and those with both physical and learning disabilities, are provided with specialist housing to aid their quality of life and living standards.

The homes, procured through the North West Construction Hub framework, are provided by the council’s capital programme with grant funding through Homes England’s Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme.

Councillor Keith Cunliffe, deputy leader of Wigan Council, said:

“We know having the right home has a direct impact on someone’s health and wellbeing and their quality of life. We want to keep people independent in their own homes but also connect them into a local community which is why these schemes are brilliant and they can help tackle social isolation.”

Hyndelle Lodge is shortlisted for the Best Healthy Homes Development (Suburban) while Ullswater Road is shortlisted for Best Healthy Homes Development (Rural and Suburban).
